Can you take too much Vitamin D?

A majority of vitamin d supplement contain less than 1,000 IU of vitamin d and the typical serving dose is one capsule per day. 

Vitamin D does have an upper-limit - if you have too much then it can lead to increase calcium absorption which triggers hypercalcemioa - a rare condition where calcium in the blood are above normal. 

Its extremely unlikely that you are at risk if you take less than 10,000 IU (x10 times more that the recommended daily intake) and even then, you will need to take it over multiple weeks or months. 

What is important is you follow the instructions on your supplement label - in particular the recommended daily intake.
